English tutors who speak Persian
Every tutor here teaches English and speaks Persian as well, so when an explanation will not land in English there is a way through it rather than a shrug. That matters most at the beginning; by the time you are arguing in English it matters very little, and you should choose on the teaching.
Lessons here run from $4 to $40 an hour, most of them around $15. 51 of the 61 have passed the WeaTeach assessment (3 master, 12 gold, 32 silver, 4 bronze), which is also what caps the price they may charge. Between them they name Conversation, Business English, IELTS, General English among their specialties.
Questions people ask
Will the lesson be taught in Persian or in English?
In English, mostly β that is what you are here to practise. What Persian buys you is the ten seconds where a word will not come or a rule makes no sense: the tutor explains it in your own language and the lesson carries on instead of stalling.
Is a tutor who speaks Persian worth choosing over one who does not?
Below about B1 it usually is, because the alternative is guessing. Once you can follow an explanation in English it matters much less, and you should pick on teaching rather than on the shared language.
Which languages does the site work in?
WeaTeach is fully translated into English, Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Turkish, German, French, Italian, Portuguese, Polish, Spanish, Swedish, Hindi, Thai and Vietnamese, including what tutors write on their own profiles.
How much does an online tutor cost on WeaTeach?
Lessons start at $5 for 50 minutes. What a tutor may charge is capped by the level they have proved in the WeaTeach assessment, so the price on a profile is always a real, bookable price.
Can I try a tutor before committing?
Yes, free. The Trial Pass gives you a 25-minute trial with up to four different tutors at no cost, so you can meet several people before you settle on one.
