Cheap online English tutors
These are the tutors teaching for the least here, and cheap does not mean a recording or a group of thirty: it is the same 50 minutes alone with a teacher as anywhere else on the site. Watch the intro video, check the assessed level, and meet up to four of them with one free Trial Pass.
Lessons here run from $4 to $6 an hour, most of them around $5. 12 of the 36 have passed the WeaTeach assessment (2 gold, 7 silver, 3 bronze), which is also what caps the price they may charge. Between them they name Conversation, IELTS, General English, Grammar among their specialties.
Questions people ask
Why are these lessons so much cheaper than the rest?
Because a tutor's price is capped by the level they proved in the WeaTeach assessment, and this page shows the ones at the start of that ladder — often new to this site rather than new to teaching. They are teaching at the price the cap allows, not at a discount they will withdraw.
Is a $5 lesson a real 50 minutes with a real teacher?
Yes: one-to-one, live, the full lesson, with the same assessment, the same held payment and the same reviews as any other tutor here. The price is the only thing that is small.
What happens if a lesson does not go ahead?
Your payment is held, not spent. You confirm the lesson afterwards, and if something goes wrong you report it and the money stays put until it is sorted out.
Which languages does the site work in?
WeaTeach is fully translated into English, Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Turkish, German, French, Italian, Portuguese, Polish, Spanish, Swedish, Hindi, Thai and Vietnamese, including what tutors write on their own profiles.
How much does an online tutor cost on WeaTeach?
Lessons start at $5 for 50 minutes. What a tutor may charge is capped by the level they have proved in the WeaTeach assessment, so the price on a profile is always a real, bookable price.
