Lessons here run from $5 to $6 an hour, most of them around $5. 12 of the 21 have passed the WeaTeach assessment (2 master, 1 gold, 7 silver, 2 bronze), which is also what caps the price they may charge. Why are these lessons so much cheaper than the rest?
Because a tutor's price is capped by the level they proved in the WeaTeach assessment, and this page shows the ones at the start of that ladder — often new to this site rather than new to teaching. They are teaching at the price the cap allows, not at a discount they will withdraw.
Is a $5 lesson a real 50 minutes with a real teacher?
Yes: one-to-one, live, the full lesson, with the same assessment, the same held payment and the same reviews as any other tutor here. The price is the only thing that is small.
